From the first time I heard the Beatles, I wanted nothing more than to play and write music, and I got my first guitar when I was 12. It was a plastic ES-335 replica with nylon strings that would not tune, and it was soon replaced with a real Harmony Sovereign my Dad bought at Harrell's music from David Burns. I remember the smell at Harrell's, a heavenly blend of amplifiers with their roasting capacitors, glowing tubes, and aging Tolex ... a scent every musician knows and identifies as a spiritual home and safe space.

I still feel the same about music stores, magical spaces where musicians meet, bands are formed, and one can hear every imaginable rendition of the Stairway to Heaven intro. This music came from those music stores and represents 50 some-odd years of a love affair with music, influenced by hundreds of musical and creative people that have graced my life along the way. The music is here as a historical marker and a reflection of my life. It is also here as a songwriter's demo clearinghouse, in case someone needs an oddball tune to fill out their record.

Please enjoy. ~ jim
