Verse 1
Crazy Katy lives on the other side of the better side of town
Thirteen cats in a run-down house where nobody comes around She used to have a loving man, but that was a long time back
Before the VA let him slip right through the cracks
Verse 2
She married Charlie the week before he left out to fight the war
He came back without a scratch, but his mind wasn’t like before
Charlie hunkered down inside his head, Katy never knew what to say
So she did her best, and she watched him waste away
Chorus
So won’t you feel the way the wind blows, watch the way the river flows
Its gonna go the way it goes, You can take it and roll … on
But try to leave a light on, just to point the way back home
Won’t you leave a candle burning … for a wayward soul
Verse 3
Charlie made the local news with a few last words to say
In a note said he didn’t have the strength to make it one more day
A bottle of pills brought a few cold words as he lay six feet below
Katy and the preacher were the only ones who showed
Verse 4
Now Katy shuffles down the aisle of the General Dollar store
Other folks just pass her by and stare down at the floor
They say that hearing someone call your name is the sweetest sound
Well, its too late for Charlie, but Katy’s still hanging around
Chorus
